Dubai Elite Events: Emirates Classic Car Festival March 19-22

The Emirates Classic Car Festival, which is regarded as the Middle East's most elite showcase of classic cars is back! The 7th edition of this prestigious car event will be held at Downtown Dubai near Burj Khalifa starting today March 19, 2015 until March 22, 2015(Sunday). Admission is free so feel free to visit and enjoy a collection of over 200 Dubai Elite Classic cars including cars from pre-war days. Check out below teasers from last year's event. One word. Amazing.

Hopefully they'll also give awards to visitors with the most classic look..(If they'll only do that then I will come as a cave man! haha..)

Top 5 Most Expensive Police Cars in the World

Top 1: Aston Martin One-77 worth $2 Million US Dollars in Dubai:

When you say Dubai, the first thing that usually comes to your mind are the words "Rich" "Gold" "More Gold" "Super Cars" "Money" "Lots and lots of Money" and "Oil". Mostly all of the above are true to the point, and for the case of this Aston Martin One-77 Dubai Police Car that is worth almost $2 Million USD, most if not all of the elite qualities above applies. This Ricky Martin I mean Aston Martin beauty owns the title of the World's Most Expensive Police Car (yes, Dubai also owns the Most Expensive "Car" as mentioned in my previous post "World's Most Expensive Car is not really a car" so you should know the trend by now).

This is the Aston Martin One-77 Dubai Police Car and yes, only 77 of them Aston Martin One-77 exists in the world (talk about rare and expensive). This powerful beauty has a 7.3L V12 Engine 750 bhp Horse Power and a top speed of 354 kph and can go from 0-100 kph in 3.7 seconds. This elite police car also has a plate number of "11" (that's one off my list in the search for the Dubai Elite Cars :D) which makes it a "Super Elite Police Car".

Top 2: Bugatti Veyron worth $1.6 Million US Dollars in guess where? Of course, Dubai!

This is the Bugatti Veyron, which is one of the fastest if not the fastest car in the world. This monster beauty has an 8.0 L Engine, horse power of 1,000 bhp, top speed of 431 kph and can go from 0-100 kph in just 2.7 seconds! This also has a plate number of "2" (so that's another one of the list) and makes it's way as a "Monster Elite Police Car".

Top 3: Mercedes Benz Brabus Rocket CLS in Germany worth $475,000 US Dollars:

Let's take a rest from Dubai (it gets tiring I know) and look at this Mercedes Benz Super Police Car from Germany. This sleeping beauty has a V12 offering up 730 twin-turbocharged horses and was created for Germany’s Tune it Safe! program, which aimed to educate German tuners about safe tuning practices. Looks can be deceiving and this car looks like a normal police car but with a 7-speed AMG Speedshift MCT allows the Rocket 800 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 370 km/h (230 mph). The car makes it to the 300 km/h (186 mph) mark in 29.5 seconds making it really a "Sleeping Beast Elite Police Car".

Top 4: Lamborghini Aventador worth $450,000 US Dollars from Dubai (not so much rest from Dubai I guess..)

This 700 hp supercar has a top speed of 350 km/h, but it never reaches its top speed in Dubai. Instead, it’s being paraded around as a marketing device like most of the high-speed patrol cars in Dubai’s fleet.

This raging beauty also has an engine of 6.5 L V12, horse power of 691 bhp, and has a plate number "8" making it as a "Raging Elite Police Car".

Top 5: Lamborghini Murceliago LP640 in the United Kingdom worth $380,000 USD.

The Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 was covered in the neon blue and yellow livery of the Metropolitan Police department as a promotional stunt for the MPH ’06 motor show in Birmingham, UK. The car actually belongs to Lamborghini and will be returned to them once the show finishes so I think thefts will be happy to hear that they will not be chased by this yellow speedster.

Prices of Special Plates in Dubai

It's been 2 and a half days since my first blog and I still haven't seen any Dubai Elite Cars. During this time, I happen to stumble upon a site (www.autotraderuae.com) that shows the prices of these so called "Elite Plates" and ohh boy are they EXPENSIVE. The most expensive available 3-digit plate number is "the number that cannot be named" worth around 2.5 Million Dirhams or around $685,000. (For conversion, 1 USD is around 3.65 Dirhams). While the most expensive 2-digit number is the usual favorite number of our friends haha.. Just check it out below..

For comparison and sanity-check I googled "What can you buy with $500,000" and here's what I

A $575,000 1952 Bentley R-Type La Sarthe Classic Car

A $495,000 4-Bedroom 3-Bathroom Home in Las Vegas, Nevada

In the end, it's still your choice on what to spend with your "hard-earned" money. It's just a matter of choice and as they say "It's all about the money, money, money" or is the other way around haha..

The Most Expensive Plate Number Ever Sold

2 days has passed since my first blog in search for Dubai Elite Cars but so far I haven't seen any 3-digit ferraris roaming around (this might be more difficult than I thought it would be haha).

So for the meantime, let's talk about how "Elite" these plate numbers really are and what is the most expensive plate number ever sold.

So I searched in Google exactly as I wanted (like what we usually do when we search for our home works): "Most Expensive Plate Numbers in the World"

Then not to my surprise, the most expensive plate number ever sold was the plate number "1" in Abu Dhabi:

This was sold to Saeed Abdul Ghaffer Khouri for 52.2 Million Dirhams or around 14.3 Million USD. This is currently the holder for the most expensive plate number sold in history in the Guinness Book of World Records. I say currently, because in a year or so, for sure there will be another plate number to be up for grabs (plate number lower than 1 like maybe number -1? hahaha I have no idea if that's even allowed).

 Second on the list is not number 2, but the plate number "5":

This was sold for a not so shabby 22.7 Million Dirhams or around 6.8 Million USD in 2007 to Mr. Khoury (some says he's a close relative of the guy who bought number 1, which makes sense haha). The good thing is that Mr. Khoury says that once he passes, he will have this plate auctioned and the money will go to charity. So that's not so bad :)

Aside from the World Record of having the most expensive Plate Number Sold, the Auction also got the World Record for the most money raised for a plate auction so that's another good thing :)
